About this tool

Teams calls need low delay and steady delivery more than raw speed. Microsoft aims for delay under 100 ms, jitter under 30 ms and packet loss under 1 % from your network to theirs, and about 1.5 Mbit/s each way for HD video.

Run the call quality test, compare the results with those targets, then use the camera and microphone check to rule out the device itself.

Common questions

Is this an official Microsoft test?

No. It is a Surftec tool that measures the same things. Microsoft's own Network Assessment Tool is more detailed but needs installing.

My video freezes but audio is fine. Why?

Video needs much more upload speed than audio. Check the upload result, and whether someone else is uploading at the same time.

Does VPN affect Teams?

Yes. Sending Teams through a VPN adds delay. Most VPNs can be set to send Teams traffic directly; your IT support can check.
